Northwest Adds L.A.-to-Sydney Route: Northwest Airlines has received approval from the U.S. Department of Transportation to begin nonstop service between Los Angeles and Sydney, Australia. The decision gives Northwest the option of adding a route extension to Brisbane, Australia. Northwest now serves Sydney with four weekly round-trips from Honolulu. The new flights will begin as early as December.
