No Tears for GM Workers

I have no sympathy for the crocodile tears shed by the union over the closing of the GM plant in Van Nuys. They have a lot of chutzpah.

Their successes increase the prices we suckers have to pay. This self-serving conglomeration of hard hats, rednecks and very hard-working, efficient, but well-paid, producers has generally given lip service to the free-enterprise economy and now calls for government help--socialism when their ox is being gored.

Things have changed since 1929 when I was an auto worker. We had to be at work at 7 in the morning, got lunch at noon and then worked until 6 p.m. for six days a week and everybody got paid the same amount.
