Raitt to Appear at Starlight
SAN DIEGO — Singer-guitarist Bonnie Raitt will perform Oct. 9 at San Diego’s Starlight Bowl. Acclaimed folk-pop songwriter John Prine will open the show.
Raitt last performed in San Diego in 1989. In 1990, she won three Grammy awards for her best-selling album “Nick of Time†(best album, best pop vocal performance female, best rock vocal performance female). Raitt shared a fourth Grammy (best traditional blues recording) with blues legend John Lee Hooker for their duet on “I’m in the Mood.â€
Raitt’s show will eschew elaborate production. She is touring with a new band whose members include guitarist Stephen Bruton, keyboardist Glen Clark, percussionist Debra Dobkin, former Beach Boys drummer Ricky Fataar, bassist James (Hutch) Hutchinson, and keyboardist-guitarist Danny Timms.
Tickets for the Raitt-Prine double bill, which are priced at $27.50 and $22.50, go on sale Saturday at all TicketMaster outlets. Tickets can be charged by calling 278-TIXS.
