Ivan N. Kozhedub; Soviet Ace in WWII

Ivan N. Kozhedub, a Soviet air force marshal and World War II ace who was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union three times, has died.
The Soviet news agency Tass reported Monday that Kozhedub had died but did not give a place or cause of death. He was 71.
Kozhedub flew in 330 combat sorties in World War II and downed 62 enemy planes in 120 dogfights.
After the war, he was a deputy in the Supreme Soviet legislature and was inspector of flight training for the Soviet air force from 1956 to 1966.
