Woman Accused of Bilking Clients in Property Deals
The Orange County district attorney’s office has filed grand theft charges against a woman accused of bilking clients of about $1 million in bogus real estate deals.
Authorities charge that Alta B. Bammer, 53, who worked as a Century 21 real estate agent in Huntington Beach, took money from 11 different clients over the past 10 years.
“She would convince her victims that she had a good deal to buy and then would get victims to send her money†telling them they would be investors, Deputy Dist. Atty. Joseph D’Agostino said.
Bammer is serving a 30-month sentence in federal prison in Arizona after pleading guilty to mail fraud charges in April.
