KMEX-TV, a Los Angeles-based Spanish-language station, named Sandra Thomas Esquivel to the post of acting news director. The Mexican-born Esquivel, 32, most recently was a producer in Washington for the Univision network, the Hallmark Cards Inc. unit that owns Channel 34. She replaces Fernando Lopez, who resigned.
