Sale Delayed: Microsemi Corp., a manufacturer of custom semiconductor chips in Santa Ana, said Monday that it is taking longer than expected to sell its non-semiconductor manufacturing businesses.
The company put the businesses up for sale more than a year ago. But the company said factors such as the recession and a shortage of capital have delayed any sale.
Divisions up for sale include the company’s Omni Technology unit, a San Jose chip-testing company; Salem/Sortech, a distribution firm in Beverly, Mass.; Bikor Corp., a power-supplies firm in Torrance; Micro Ceramics, a maker of capacitors in San Diego; and Surface Mounted Technology Corp., a board assembly plant in San Jose.
The company said it is talking with several groups interested in acquiring the businesses. During the first nine months of the year, the units up for sale reported revenue of $7.3 million.
