Levey Leaving La Jolla: Alan Levey, managing director of the La Jolla Playhouse since 1981, said Monday he will resign on Dec. 31, having seen the organization through nine producing seasons. Levey said he reached the decision with his family after opening the Mandell Weiss Forum in La Jolla this summer, adding “this is a good time to focus my attention on other opportunities in the arts.” Levey also supervised the design and construction of the Mandell Weiss Theatre, which was completed in 1982.
