San Diego
Firefighters responding to a predawn blaze in an East San Diego apartment Tuesday discovered a man who had reportedly been beaten by several gang members, officials said.
According to police spokesman Bill Robinson, firefighters summoned police at 5:21 a.m. when they found the man lying outside his dwelling in the 3600 block of Van Dyke Avenue.
“He may have been assaulted by about 20 gang members, and these gang members may have torched his home,†said Robinson, who said members of the Crips were reportedly involved.
The man, whose name was not available, was treated at a hospital.
