Shareholder Sues Standard Brands: A shareholder sued Torrance-based Standard Brands Paint Co., seeking a court order to force the troubled paint retailer to convene its annual meeting. The meeting has been postponed several times from its original scheduled date of May 24. The company has been attempting to restructure its finances and board. The shareholder, Robert Coffman, is a Standard Brands employee who participates in employee stock ownership plans that own 20% of the company. Company officials couldn’t be reached for comment. A hearing on the suit is set for Aug. 20 in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
