We fully agree with your editorial “The Need to Replenish Vanishing Jobs” (July 23). We would like to bring to your attention the programs of the Economic Development Corp. serving Los Angeles County.
Currently, we have activities addressing the loss and retention of jobs in two major industries in the Southland--the aerospace/high-technology and movie production and television sectors. We have taken an active role in dealing with the issues and problems being experienced by these two major industrial sectors. We are also working in forging a common effort to address the specific issues that are retarding business retention and development in Los Angeles, and ultimately providing solutions to ensure the retention and promotion of jobs in the basin in all major industries.
GARY N. CONLEY, President, Economics Development Corp. of Los Angeles County
