2nd-Quarter Profit Sinks for Motor Home Maker

Rexhall Industries Inc., a Santa Clarita motor home maker suffering from the recession, said its second-quarter profit plunged 80% from a year earlier on a 45% decline in sales.
In the quarter ended June 30, Rexhall’s net income fell to $242,000 from $1.22 million a year earlier, and its sales dropped to $9.18 million from $16.8 million. The “continued weakness in the economy” led to the declines in sales of recreational vehicles, Rexhall said.
For the first half of 1991, Rexhall lost $217,000, compared with year-earlier earnings of $1.70 million. Its six-month sales tumbled 50%, to $13.8 million from $27.6 million.
