Iwerks Entertainment Wins Spanish Contract
Iwerks Entertainment, a Burbank company that specializes in simulation theater systems, said it won a multimillion-dollar contract to install the world’s largest dome simulation theater system for the Spanish government at the Universal Exposition 1992 in Seville. Sources close to the deal said the contract is worth about $5 million.
The exposition is being held as part of a celebration of the 500th anniversary of Columbus’ voyage to America.
Iwerks said the 162-seat theater would feature a film promoting Spain and its culture. The film--which will be produced by Iwerks--will be projected on a 160-degree domed screen and the seats will move in synchronization with the film, the company said.
