EPA, PG&E; Team Up: The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Pacific Gas & Electric Co. said they are teaming up in a pioneering effort to cut pollution by reducing energy use. The goal is “to reduce pollution before it happens,” PG&E; Chairman and Chief Executive Richard A. Clarke said at a news conference at the utility’s headquarters in San Francisco. PG&E; plans to install energy-saving lighting and other equipment in federal facilities in Northern and Central California, with the aim of cutting energy use by 25%.
