Narcotics investigators on Wednesday arrested a dozen people in connection with a drug-manufacturing ring in the Sana Fernando and Antelope valleys, and uncovered what they described as an illegal methamphetamine laboratory in a Lancaster home, Los Angeles police said.

About 60 pounds of methamphetamine, commonly known as speed, was found in the laboratory, which investigators said could produce 150 pounds of the drug a week. That amount would be worth $2.25 million if sold on the street, Lt. Thomas Chiarenza said.

The arrests culminated an eight-month investigation and were made while four search warrants were served at 7 a.m. in Lancaster, Reseda, and two homes in Canoga Park, Chiarenza said.

The 12 people arrested were being held in lieu of $500,000 bail on suspicion of manufacturing a controlled substance, Officer Michael Hargreaves said.
