Hipp Out to Make Woods 21st Victim

IRVINE — Heavyweight Joe Hipp, ranked No. 20 by the World Boxing Council, will face Cleveland Woods of West Covina tonight in the main event of a monthly boxing card at UC Irvine’s Bren Events Center.

The seven-fight card, the second promoted by LBNT Pro Sports, begins at 7 p.m. and concludes with the 10-round bout between Hipp (20-1) of Federal Way, Wash., and Woods (13-2).

Shane Kaplan (3-1), a junior middleweight from Irvine, will fight Jimmy Rivas (0-2) of Phoenix in one of the undercards. In a heavyweight fight, La Habra’s Lance Wingert (1-0) will face Jaime Mungia (3-2).
