ORANGE — A mother and her baby daughter suffered burns Sunday evening when a fire broke out in their apartment, authorities reported.
Ten-month-old Courtney Litchenberg suffered first- and second-degree burns over 10% of her body, primarily on her back and legs. Her mother, Tamara Litchenberg, 21, suffered similar burns over 5% of her body. Both were admitted to St. Joseph Hospital in Orange.
A spokeswoman for the Orange Fire Department said the blaze started about 6:15 p.m. at 747 N. Adele St. and was controlled by crews from three fire engine companies. Flames did not spread to any other apartment units.
Fire officials said Sunday night that the cause of the fire is under investigation and that property damage was reportedly minor.
