Walker Makes U.S. Olympic Bobsled Team

Minnesota Viking running back Herschel Walker secured a spot on the U.S. Olympic and World Cup bobsledding team Thursday.
Walker finished third in the individual brakeman push championships at Lake Placid, N.Y. Jeff Woodard won the event, and Chris Coleman placed second.
Woodard, of Schenectady, N.Y., won in 10.66 seconds, based on his two fastest times in three runs. He set the track record of 5.32 seconds on his third attempt after posting times of 5.36 and 5.34.
Three-time defending champion Coleman, of Vestal, N.Y., earned the silver medal and a spot on the team with Walker.
Walker took the bronze medal with times of 5.43, 5.44 and 5.41 for a best-two-of-three 10.84 total.
