An Alpine clinic that serves 8,000 native Americans from seven tribes will dedicate a building addition today with songs and tribal dances.
The Southern Indian Health Council clinic at 4058 Willows Road will nearly double in size with the addition of 5,200 square feet, clinic spokesman Jerry Schultz said.
The clinic provides health care to the Barona, Campo, Cuyapaipe, Jamul, La Posta, Manzanita and Viejas reservations, he said.
Built with a federal grant, the clinic opened in July, 1988, as an outpatient center and now has 55 full-time employees. The health center, with a $2.5-million annual budget, treats injuries and illness, and provides pediatric, obstetric, dental and other services.
