SUCCEEDING YOUNG: Marti Leimbach tapped out a draft of her first novel, “Dying Young,” in the UC Irvine computer room while a student in the graduate writers’ program. The movie starring Julia Roberts is based on her novel. The 27-year-old author’s take was nearly $500,000, but Hollywood took its toll: Leimbach’s love triangle lost one male character in order to turn the film into a “Love Story” for Roberts.
