Power Outage Disrupts Service on Blue Line
Service in the Metro Blue Line tunnel in downtown Los Angeles was interrupted for more than an hour Friday when power in the overhead line went out. The outage forced transit officials to bus passengers to their final destination at 7th and Figueroa streets, said Southern California Rapid Transit District spokesman Greg Davy.
Passengers got off the rail cars at Pico Boulevard and Flower Street and were bused into downtown Los Angeles, Davy said. “The (interrupted) power affected the wire above the train. The cause is not known because it came back on before the problem could be tracked,†Davy said.
Ed Freudenberg, a spokesman for the Department of Water and Power, said his agency had not received reports of the outage, which lasted from shortly before 7 a.m. until 8:20 a.m.
