QUIET, PLEASE: AMC officials in California are backing off a bit from their announced intentions to keep children under 3 out of some movie theaters. Instead of an outright ban on infants and toddlers--part of a new plan to keep theaters quieter--patrons with small children will now be “strongly discouraged†from attending films with a rating of PG-13 or R. . . . Announcements of the new policy had been generally received with enthusiasm, an AMC spokeswoman said, but a Buena Park father had threatened to challenge the legality of a ban on young children.
