SUNDAY’S RACES : Generous Adds Irish Derby to English Title

English Derby winner Generous scored a three-length victory over French challenger Suave Dancer in the Irish Derby at The Curragh near Dublin Sunday.
Ridden by Alan Munro, the even-money favorite took the lead with about 400 yards left in the 1 1/2-mile race and pulled away for the victory.
He joins Kahyasi, Shahrastani, Shergar, Troy, Shirley Heights and The Minstrel as those who have completed the Anglo-Irish Derby double.
Suave Dancer, ridden by Walter Swinburn, was second.
Safely Kept won the $155,100 Chicago Budweiser Breeders’ Cup race for fillies and mares by 7 1/2 lengths at Arlington International Racecourse.
It was her 22nd victory in 26 starts. She was timed in 1:23 and paid $2.60, $2.40 and $2.20.
Who’s To Pay, wide in the stretch, surged to a neck victory in the $93,600 Poker Stakes at Belmont Park.
Who’s To Pay, a 5-year-old gelded son of Believe It and Two For The Show, covered one mile on the turf in 1:33 2/5. The favorite paid $5.20, $4.20 and $3.40.
