Followers of Indian guru Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh planned to assassinate the U.S. attorney for Oregon by gunning him down in a garage across from Portland City Hall, according to court documents. Prosecutors say a paramilitary corps plotted to kill U.S. Atty. Charles Turner to derail a federal grand jury investigation. Affidavits were filed in Germany in an effort by U.S. authorities to extradite Ma Shanti Bhadra, 45, who with six others is charged with conspiracy to commit murder.
