During the last fiscal year (Oct. 1, 1989-Sept. 30, 1990), more than a million passengers either departed from or arrived at Orange County train stations. That total includes just four months of operation for the new station in Irvine. Most of the action was centered in three of the stations--Fullerton, San Juan Capistrano and Santa Ana--which accounted for 83% of the traffic. Here’s the comparison:
Station Passengers % of Total Fullerton 327,830 29 San Juan Capistrano 317,252 28 Santa Ana 297,627 26 Anaheim 189,482 16 San Clemente 14,338 1 Irvine ** 4,008 * TOTAL 1,150,537 100
* Less than 1% ** New station; includes only June-September totals. Source: Amtrak
