About 5,500 homes and businesses were without power for a brief time Saturday as outages struck portions of Tustin, San Juan Capistrano and Mission Viejo, authorities said.
The first outage was reported at 5:12 p.m., after a falling tree branch shorted a power line, dimming a small area of East Tustin, bounded by Irvine and Foothill boulevards, and Red Hill and Browning avenues, Southern California Edison spokeswoman Cathy Sedlik said.
About 1,500 customers were without power for a little more than an hour. No major damage was reported to the line.
The second outage was reported about 7:15 p.m. and affected about 4,000 customers in San Juan Capistrano and Mission Viejo.
