Edmonton Oiler owner Peter Pocklington paid his team $100,000 to win series-clinching sixth game of the Smythe Division final against the Kings, according to a published report.

Three players who did not want to be named told the Edmonton Sun that Pocklington entered the dressing room April 28 with a bag full of money and set it down on a table. The cash was mostly large bills, said one player.

NHL rules state that teams are not allowed to offer special inducements to win a game or series. The maximum penalty is a $10,000 fine.
