Sununu’s Controversial Travels
One aspect of Sununu’s defense of his trips at government expense has been overlooked. This is a man who claims that his everyday working relationship with the President is essential to the management of the executive office. However, he sees no incongruity in taking a day off to fly to a dentist in Boston or spend a day at an stamp auction in New York.
Imagine the reaction of a CEO of a major corporation in Los Angeles if his chief aide told him that he had to take a day off to have a cavity filled by a dentist in Seattle, or he wanted to spend a day at a stamp auction in Portland and insisted that the company pay for his trips.
