Republicans and Budget Battle

The idea of dipping into the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) fund to help balance the state budget is appalling, if not immoral. Retirees and state employees who look to this fund now and in the future are not responsible for the financial crisis of the state. Our legislators could learn from those who contributed to the fiscally responsible and successful management of this fund.
The more affluent, who contribute substantially to political campaigns, should bear some responsibility for the actions of their candidates. Increased taxes for the affluent, either on income or luxury items, would be a more viable answer to the financial crisis.
