Police were searching Sunday for a man who shot and killed a transient outside a Reseda grocery store.
Gerardo Najera, 24, died about 11:45 p.m. Saturday after he was shot in the parking lot of Lucky Food Center at 18300 Vanowen St., Los Angeles Police Sgt. Charles Meter said.
Najera was with his girlfriend when the unidentified gunman walked over and shot him in the upper torso, Meter said. The girlfriend, who was not injured, told police that the gunman ran across the parking lot and drove away.
Meter said it was unclear what prompted the attack.
