The Woodland Hills Astros swept the Irvine Tigers, 2-1 and 5-4 in 12 innings, in a National Baseball Congress doubleheader Saturday at Pierce College.
Former Cal Lutheran pitcher Mike Clark went the distance for Woodland Hills in the opener, allowing just four hits and striking out nine.
In the second game, Bobby Kazmirski pitched the final seven innings for Woodland Hills (7-3 in NBC play) and did not allow a hit until the 12th, when Irvine scored twice.
The Astros countered with three runs in their half of the 12th. Del Marine, formerly of Moorpark College, tripled and scored on Dave Roberts’ double, and Roberts was doubled home by Chris de Franco. De Franco scored on John Sacchi’s two-out double to left.
