Cityhood and Annexation Talks Delayed
NORTH TUSTIN — The Local Agency Formation Commission this week postponed consideration of competing annexation and incorporation proposals for North Tustin.
The agency was originally scheduled to hold public hearings on the issues Wednesday, but officials are still waiting for a report from the state about the financial feasibility of the new city. LAFCO is now scheduled to take up the North Tustin proposals on Aug. 7, said Jim Colangelo, the agency’s executive director.
The financial report, paid for by cityhood advocates, said the new city would be financially stable if voters simultaneously approved a utility users tax. But anti-cityhood forces challenged many figures in the report, and Tustin officials requested a state review.
