United Seeks Southern Routes: United Airlines, having tucked the London market safely under its wing, has asked the U.S. government for permission to fly between Brazil and the West Coast. United said that if approval is granted, flights from Los Angeles to Sao Paulo and on to Rio de Janeiro would begin next January.
