Theater in L.A.

In response to Don Shirley’s “An Opposing Viewpoint” in the May 26 Stage Watch, if “living, breathing theatergoers” are wincing, it is not at George Green’s KABC editorial.
Shirley, in caviling over details, missed the objective and spirit of Green’s comments. While it’s true that the Shubert is neither a small theater nor a $10 ticket, Green was accurate when he said many theater tickets cost no more than a movie and a soda.
Why would Shirley find it necessary to express this viewpoint to one who is simply trying to promote live theater?
