UC Irvine dance faculty member Janice Plastino has been named 1991-92 Scholar of the Year by the National Dance Assn., a professional organization based in Virginia. The non-monetary award is given in recognition of scholarly publications and choreography over a period of at least 10 years. Plastino, who has taught at UCI for 21 years, delivered her award-winning paper, “Dance and Science: Melding, Molding and Moving,” at the American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance convention in San Francisco in April.
The Irvine Fine Arts Center raised more than $1,300 with its first Spring Arts Festival show and sale last weekend. The money will be used for the center’s ceramics and photography workshops.
