Israeli Airlift of Ethiopian Jews
Amazing contrasts appeared in The Times recently. The African-American magazine at UCLA published a piece referring to disputes with a Jewish student newspaper that said: “Silly rabbits, they think I don’t like them because they’re Jewish. . . . That’s ridiculous. I don’t like the majority of them because they’re typical cave-dwelling white, Zionist (expletive)†(Metro, May 24).
At the same time, the Zionist state of Israel was saving the lives of 14,000 Africans. What other country in the world would pay $35 million to Ethiopia to buy the freedom of 14,000 uneducated, untrained Africans, many of whom are sick and do not even know what a light switch or a toilet is?
Some of the people at UCLA ought to get their act together and find out what Zionism is before equating it with racism. I think that they have swallowed a line of propaganda and are guilty of the very thing that they find so abhorrent.
