The Soviet pair of Viktor Mazgovoi and Irina Petrova battled wind and rain to win the men’s and women’s divisions of the 14th annual Melbourne Marathon. Mazgovoi’s was 2 hours 17 minutes 2 seconds. Petrova completed the women’s race in 2:39.57.
