MUGU ROCK : Man Swept by Wave Into Ocean Drowns

A 33-year-old man trying to take a photograph from Mugu Rock Sunday afternoon was swept into the ocean and drowned, authorities said.
The victim, who did not know how to swim, was standing at the base of the rock about 2 p.m. “A wave came in there that he didn’t see and just washed him away,” Ventura County Fire Capt. Darrel Crowder said.
Sheriff’s Lt. Gary Backman said the victim was an illegal immigrant from Mexico. His name was being withheld pending notification of relatives.
