ORANGE : City Adopts Sewer District Proposal
- Share via
Following the March annexation of Cumberland Road, the City Council has approved a proposal to form an assessment district to finance a sewer system in the neighborhood.
Annexation of the 63 properties on Cumberland Road between Canal and Shaffer streets was placed on the ballot in March after some residents complained that their system of septic tanks and cesspools posed a health hazard.
Last week, the council passed resolutions that, among other matters, approved a boundary map of the area and outlined plans to issue bonds to finance the improvements.
The improvements are expected to cost homeowners from $273 to $495 a year for 10 years.
A public hearing on formation of the assessment district will be held at the July 9 City Council meeting.
