Array of Talent Reflects a Family Plan

All of the summer concerts at Warner Park are intended for the entire family.

Unless otherwise noted, performances begin at 5:30 p.m. at Warner Park, 5800 Topanga Canyon Blvd., Woodland Hills. Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and picnics. Parking is $1 at 21725 Califa Ave. For information, call (818) 704-1587.

Sunday: The Lettermen, featuring Tony Butala, Donovan Scott Tea and Bobby Poynton, will perform several of their greatest hits, including “Put Your Head on My Shoulder.â€

June 9: Drummer Louie Bellson and the Big Band Explosion, featuring vocalist Dee Dee Bellson. Louie Bellson’s compositions include jazz, romantic orchestral numbers and symphonic works.

June 16: The Limeliters--Alex Hassilev, Lou Gottlieb, Rick Dougherty and John David--will perform popular folk-pop selections.

June 23: The first of three children’s programs will begin at 4 p.m. with a performance by J. P. Nightingale, a singing-songwriting duo who entertain youngsters with silly rhymes and fairy tales. They will be followed at 5:30 p.m. by a program of samba, bossa nova and jazz by Kleber Jorge and Brazilliant, and at 6:30 p.m. by Kids of Rock Theatre.

June 30: Formula One Haitian Band will play reggae and calypso.

July 7: The Horace Heidt Orchestra will present big band sounds and classical music.

July 14: Scots & Irish Festival will include performances by Men of Worth, the Farrar Scottish Dancers and the Caber Feidh Pipe Band.

July 21: Lola Montes & Her Spanish Dancers perform.

July 28: Dan Crow will sing for children at 4 p.m., followed at 5:30 p.m. by the Dillards, who will play bluegrass, rock and country songs.

Aug. 4: The West Valley Symphony Orchestra will perform Broadway and Hollywood screen favorites and George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue.â€

Aug. 11: The Harry James Orchestra will present an evening of jazz and big band pieces.

Aug. 18: Opera a la Carte will feature the music of Gilbert & Sullivan.

Aug. 25: Craig & Company will perform a children’s rock ‘n’ roll program at 4 p.m., followed at 5:30 p.m. by Doris Jackson & the Shirelles, whose pop hits include “Dedicated to the One I Love†and “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow?â€

Sept. 1: Khadra, San Francisco’s international folk ballet, will dance a program of American and European folk ballet classics.

Sept. 8: The U. S. 15th Air Force Band of the Golden West will play a program of classical, patriotic and popular show tunes.

Sept. 15: The All-American Boys Chorus will sing selections from Broadway musicals and country-Western and Dixieland numbers.
