Capistrano Valley 2, Redondo 1--Brand Caso’s triple drove in two runs in the top of the sixth for Capistrano Valley (16-10-1), which will play at El Modena (17-6) Friday. Travis Burgus (9-2) struck out nine and allowed two hits.
La Habra 4, Magnolia 1--Left-hander Scott Veeder needed only 67 pitches to polish off visiting Magnolia. Veeder (9-3) allowed five hits and struck out six. La Habra (12-8) advances to face Gahr, the division’s third-seeded team, in a first-round game Friday at Gahr.
La Habra scored twice on Matt Smith’s triple in the first and two more in the third when Rusty Volkert hit a ground-rule double into the ivy in front of the wall in left-center.
Magnolia finished with a 12-11 record.
