World IN BRIEF : ETHIOPIA : U.S. Coalition Will Push Famine Relief

A coalition of black and Jewish leaders and charitable organizations announced plans in Washington to provide emergency famine relief for Ethiopia and to help Ethiopian refugees resettle in the United States and Israel. The 25-member Committee of Blacks and Jews to Aid Ethiopia, headed by South African Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Israeli legislator Michael Kleiner, announced an initial grant of $100,000 as seed money to help feed 6 million Ethiopians threatened by starvation.
