LAKE CASITAS : Company to Study Golf Course Effects

The Ventura County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday awarded an $80,500 contract to study the environmental effects of a private golf course proposed near Lake Casitas.
Four years after its first attempt, Farmont Corp. in Pasadena is still seeking a special permit to build an 18-hole course and 20,000-square-foot clubhouse on 203 acres of land zoned for open space.
The supervisors rejected the company’s first proposal, which included a convention center and two dozen bungalows, in 1987.
In a preliminary study, planners determined last year that the project could have an effect on traffic, air quality, water supplies, plants and wildlife.
