California IN BRIEF : SAN FRANCISCO : Homeless Children Get Playground

A playground for homeless children was dedicated by Mayor Art Agnos. “This is another small but meaningful step toward breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty before it claims another generation,” he said. The playground is at the Hamilton Family Center, a homeless shelter where children make up more than half its daily residents. Funds for the project came from the Mayor’s Office of Community Development.
