PLACENTIA : Council Approves City Fee Increases
The City Council last week passed a series of increases in business, planning, police and Public Works Department fees.
Council members voted unanimously in favor of the increases, designed to keep Placentia’s fee scale at rates similar to those of other cities.
Under the plan, most business license fees will rise $5. The increases will apply only to a minimum fee required to operate a business and not to additional charges based on gross receipt sales. License fees vary with the type of business.
Most planning, building and public works fees were raised to keep up with a higher cost of living. New fees were added for issuing certificates of compliance and for reviewing pre-application, landscape and transportation plans. The city will charge $100 to issue certificates of compliance and $50 per hour for making the plan checks.
The Police Department also imposed new $5 fees for verifying vehicle identification numbers and signing off on citations. New fees also were passed for releasing impounded vehicles.
The Police Department also raised the cost of copies of police reports by $3. Police will now charge $7 for the first page of a report and 50 cents for each additional page.
