Camarillo Wheelchair Firm Reduces Losses

Everest & Jennings International Ltd. said it lost $1.31 million in the first quarter ended March 31, compared with a year-earlier loss of $4.11 million.
The Camarillo-based maker of wheelchairs and other medical equipment said the narrower loss came on a 9% drop in revenue, to $29.4 million from $32.2 million. Everest & Jennings noted that the revenue figures excluded revenue from its European operations because those operations have been put up for sale.
The company said the smaller loss in the latest quarter reflected higher profit margins on its products and lower operating costs.
