Saddleback’s Saba Advances in Tennis

Ninth-seeded Estoban Saba of Saddleback advanced to the third round in the community college men’s tennis Southern California regionals Thursday.

Saba defeated Gary Le of Cerritos, 6-2, 6-3, after receiving a bye in the first round.

Fabian Skarvad of Saddleback upset Steve Arnott of Golden West, 7-6, 6-4, in a second-round match. Skarvad was seeded 28th and Arnott was No. 25. Saddleback’s Scott Hansen also advanced to the third round by defeating Antonio Robertson of Santa Monica, 6-0, 6-2.

In doubles, Hansen and Saba advanced with a 6-0, 6-4 victory over Tom Fatehi and Kelly Nygaard of Grossmont. Arnott teamed up with Jim Johnson to defeat Ramin Daryebeigi and Mike Cheshmager of Los Angeles Pierce, 6-4, 6-1. Peter Davidson and Rich Montano of Orange Coast defeated Kelly Askvig and Rusty Tontz of Grossmont, 6-3, 6-3.
