Freeway Foxes

The government agents came at the crack of dawn. They had no warrant; they didn’t need one. Without warning, they burst into the family lair (Part B, April 30). First they seized the children; the bewildered mother was then spirited away. The man of the house, considered a surplusage, was left to fend for himself. He had lost his wife and kids forever. He received no explanation. Was this another example of official contempt for husbands and fathers? No, just the story of a freeway fox who had an extraordinarily bad day.
