Scoring the ‘Store’
One of the few fantasies not available in the Neiman Marcus catalogue--a musical based on your own book--will come to life for 86-year-old Stanley Marcus. On May 18 he will be the honored guest in Portsmouth, N.H., at the opening of a musical version of “Minding the Store,†his book about the family’s Dallas-based retailing dynasty. In turn, the musical is the longtime dream of brothers Joel Rogosin, a Hollywood producer and screenwriter, and Roy Rogosin, a musician and composer who founded New Hampshire’s Portsmouth Academy of Performing Arts (PAPA). They wrote the play and the music. Lyrics are by their old friend Bruce Belland, lead singer of the 1960s pop group “The Four Preps.†The show will be performed at PAPA by Roy Rogosin’s Seacoast Repertory Theater.

Hamlin, another defector, topped his with a purple letterman’s jacket with “I used to be on L.A. Law†embroidered on the back. Sheridan wore a black beaded vest over this summer’s must-have--a white V-neck T-shirt.
* FAMILIAR FORM: Her face might not be familiar but her shape should be. Siguta Lownds, who will appear this weekend and next in “Aleph 5†at the Daniel Saxon Gallery Theater in Los Angeles, is a sometime actress and frequent fit model for several L.A. apparel companies. Jonathan Martin, Judy Knapp, North Beach Leather and Rumors are some of the firms that use Lownds’ ideal Size 8/9-medium measurements to scale patterns for their garments. Lownds, who has been acting since she was 5, says the professions have similar requirements, including “a powerful personality and a lot of technical training.â€
