Blowout Aborts Flight

MIAMI — A Northwest Airlines flight made an emergency landing here Wednesday, after pieces of a tire that blew out on takeoff from Ft. Lauderdale apparently damaged one engine, officials said. The 99 passengers aboard the Detroit-bound jet were warned to prepare for a crash landing, but the plane landed safely.
